Keiki Hula (Children)

Keiki
Academy of Hawaiian Arts offers hula classes for keiki (children) ages 3 and above. New keiki students join the beginning class and will advance at the recommendation of AHA instructors. Keiki must be at least three years old to begin classes. New keiki will be evaluated to insure that they are able to fully participate in classes without distraction. Please discuss your keiki's particular situation with the instructor when you enroll.

This class is geared to our young, beginning dancers. Basic hula steps and hand motions are taught separately, using Hawaiian language words, games, and chants to focus and practice. Hawaiian stories and sometimes crafts are incorporated to learn about Hawaiian culture.
