Academy of Hawaiian Arts E-Newsletter | February 2006 : Vol. 1

Open Enrollment Extended
Every Saturday in February from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Due to the great response at the Academy’s first open enrollment session of the year on February 4, 2006, AHA has extended the open enrollment to every Saturday in February. Experienced and beginning dancers of all ages are welcome to join the Academy of Hawaiian Arts, led by Kumu Hula Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu. On February 11, 18, and 25, 2006, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., AHA will hold an open house at its studio at 10700 MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland.

Persons interested in the Academy can stop by the studio during that time to ask questions, watch videos of prior performances, learn about AHA's curriculum (including its music and crafts offerings), and speak with current students about the Academy's events, goals, and expectations.

All dancers start in the Level I class. Adult Level I class is currently Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Adults who enroll at the Open House can attend class that day.) Children's Level I class is currently Saturdays, 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and is open to children age 3 and older who can participate in class without distraction. Students (both adult and keiki) advance to Level II upon instructor evaluation and approval.
