Experienced
and beginning dancers are welcome to join the Academy of Hawaiian Arts,
led by Kumu Hula Mark Keali'i
Ho'omalu. On Saturday, February 3, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.,
AHA will hold an Open House/Enrollment for men and
women dancers interested in learning about AHA.
Anyone
can stop by the studio during that time to ask questions,
watch videos of prior performances, learn about AHA's curriculum (including
its music and crafts offerings), and speak with current students about the Academy's
events, goals, and expectations.
Those attending the Open House may also participate in the Level 1 class at 11:30
a.m. All dancers who enroll at AHA start in the Level I class. Adult Level I class
is currently Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students advance to Level II upon
instructor evaluation and approval.

Enrollment Requirements:
To enroll, prospective students must do the following:
1) complete the enrollment
form (PDF);
2) review the AHA student
guidelines;
3) pay a $25 enrollment fee and the first month's dues (checks should be made payable
to: Academy of Hawaiian Arts, Inc.);
4) purchase two AHA t-shirts at $25 a pair (see enrollment offer below).
Studio
Location:
The Academy studio is located at 10700 MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland, in the Foothill
Square shopping center. The studio is behind the old Albertson's supermarket.
